Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings
Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .
Beverley
2.35: Miss Brazen
Opal Storm, Sound Reason and Let's Go Hugo are closely matched on recent C&D form, while last-time-out winners Emeralds Pride and Frank The Spark (second choice) still look on the right side of the handicapper. However, the most appealing profile belongs to MISS BRAZEN who goes well here and is leniently treated on the pick of her efforts from last year. If there's a fly in the ointment it could be Travel Candy who has slipped in the weights and now returns from wind surgery.
Richard O'Brien
Chelmsford
8.40: B Associates
It looks as if B ASSOCIATES is another who has been turned around by James Owen, so a 5lb penalty may well not stop him, with the return to 7f in his favour if anything. Freetodream (second choice) and Heerathetrack are C&D winners who arrive in form and rate obvious threats, while Nammos is one to monitor closely in the betting on this first run back with Jane Chapple-Hyam.
Andrew Sheret
Chester
3.50: Call Glory
The Mick Appleby-trained CALL GLORY broke sharply and showed bright speed when fourth over 6f here in June, a performance which points to a very bold showing from the inside stall this afternoon. Make It Easy (second choice) arrives in good form, while the lightly raced Capo Vaticano shouldn't be written off from stall 2.
Ben Hutton
Lingfield
5.25: Alpine Girl
This looks sure to be strongly run and it could set up ideally for ALPINE GIRL who was unbeaten in the hood until slow ground found her out last time. Asinara will face competition for the lead but she's a consistent filly who could appreciate this drop to 5f, as might American Fashion.
Alistair Jones
Newton Abbot
3.20: Beat Box
Pretty good prize-money and a competitive race for the grade. Mordred, Bensini and Tonto Foley (preferred in that order) all arrive in good form, while chasing debutant Go On Ya Goodthing looks quite interesting on his debut for Fergal O'Brien. However, BEAT BOX did not need to be asked for maximum effort to make a winning stable debut in good style a fortnight ago and he remains well treated off his revised mark.
Chris Wilson
Sandown
1.50: Havana Blue
Judged on 2023 data, northern raider HAVANA BLUE remains well handicapped and looks capable of following up his Beverley win. Spanish Blaze, who holds an obvious chance back at Sandown, is feared most ahead of Lyndon B who was unlucky last time. Several others also have sound claims.
Steve Boow
Curragh
4.35: Vera's Secret
Cases can be made for most of these, beginning with last year's winner Coeur D'Or who is just 3lb higher. Last year's runner-up Blues Emperor has a big chance off a 5lb lower mark, while stable companions Shayzann and Chicago Fireball very much come into it. The lightly raced State Actor and Global Energy should both be contenders. The selection is VERA'S SECRET(nap), so impressive on her handicap debut here last month and could easily be good enough, even off a 17lb higher mark.
