Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings

Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Ayr

1.40: Inappropriate

Susiesparkle could have more to offer for Iain Jardine and she may prove stronger than her stable companion Can't Stop Now, who also boasts sound credentials having won two course-and-distance handicaps this year. Savrola looked on the way back here last week and she's second choice behind the Newmarket raider Inappropriate (nap). The selection won decisively at Beverley three weeks ago and can defy his small rise in the weights.

Bath

1.25: Tigerten

If recent course-and-distance winner Calshot Spit has a chance then so too does Tigerten (nap) who has a 6lb pull for last month's defeat and this slower ground should be favourable. Zestful will also encounter a more suitable surface than she did at Pontefract last time and she's on the shortlist.

Chelmsford

5.45: Gifted Angel

Preference is for triple hurdle winner Gifted Angel (nap), who came good on the Flat in emphatic fashion at Wolverhampton ten days ago and is well treated under a penalty for that strong-finishing win. The main danger is Wannabe Brave, who has form figures of 1113521 on AW since April and is only 2lb higher than for his win at Lingfield last time. Another to consider is triple course winner Beggarman, who was runner-up at Bath last month and looks on a workable mark back in this sphere.

Exeter

4.43: Harrys Hope

The most obvious answer is Harrys Hope (nap), who created a good impression when winning readily by 7l on last week's chasing debut at Southwell and is 4lb ahead of the handicapper under his 7lb penalty. Fakir has regressed significantly over the last couple of years but ran well enough on his recent stable debut to suggest he might come good for Tom Lacey soon. Sherborne and Begin The Luck are others with possibilities.

7.00: The Pug

Mon Etoile holds good claims having come clear with a subsequent winner when finally off the mark at Newcastlle last month, but preference is for The Pug (nap) whose record over course and distance reads 112. Kalikapour looks best of the rest having run well on turf the last twice.

Thurles

4.50: Double Agent

Jetara is a fascinating contender on her Flat debut having chased home Ballyburn when last seen over timber and if she can transfer all her ability over jumps to this sphere, she ought to give a solid account. However, Double Agent (nap) is the one to beat after a narrow defeat last time and there's surely more to come from this full brother to Free Wind. Soul Of Spain and Sanctity Of Space should be in the mix for prize money if they see out this new trip.

4.25: Lake Chad

This trip is shorter than ideal for Lake Chad (nap) but he has gone close over 2m a few times and goes well at this venue. He's down in grade and gets the vote to see off two rivals who also have good course records, Itsalonglongroad and Prince Of Air.
