Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's four meetings

Sunday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Cork

4.20: Calico

The Banger Doyle has solid claims on the strength of his latest effort but a chance is taken on Calico who may have more to offer over fences. Grange Walk is temptingly handicapped but needs to turn a corner.

Ffos Las

3.55: Steel Ally

A few of these are open to improvement this season but the most appealing one is Steel Ally, who ran a big race from the front when third in a very competitive novice handicap at Sandown at the end of last season. His stablemate Lump Sum was a Grade 2 novice winner last season and may provide the main threat. Pembroke switches back to hurdling on a good mark and is next on the list, while Black Hawk Eagle may resume the improvement he showed for Kerry Lee last winter.

Goodwood

3.00: Alcazan

There's a case to be made for all the runners but none are confirmed front-runners. That role might fall to Baldomero who has his conditions and is likely to give it a good shot back on this track but Alcazan has hit form at the right time, and on the right ground, and she can enhance an already impressive strike-rate of 2-3 over C&D. Spanish Star, winner of two of the last two runnings of this, is weighted to go well but lacks a recent run and Wodao can be next best.

Naas

2.50: Sakti

Though yet to score on turf, Sakti is appealing on the strength of a Group 3 Curragh fourth, well advertised by the placed horses in dominating the Group 2 Blandford Stakes. Joseph O'Brien has five runners, headed by Goldana who may have needed a Gowran run last month and could now reverse form with Improvista and Azada on easier ground. The consistent Princess Child can also feature for O'Brien.
