A useful handicap. A wide draw offers Kingdom Come an excuse for never getting involved in a hot race at Kempton last month on his return from a break and clear top weight won't prevent him from making a bold bid if back to his AW form from the spring. Second choice is Longlai who travelled well for a long way in that same Kempton contest, shaping as if he might have just needed it after a little over ten weeks off. The durable Blue Prince completes the shortlist.

Plenty of these bring positives, not least Beattie Is Back (second choice), The Cookstown Cafu and the upwardly mobile Vibrato. However, Mark Rimell's Red Maids is thriving and appeared value for more than the winning margin over C&D last week. Assuming that the recent travelling (her trainer is based in Oxfordshire) hasn't taken a toll, she looks the one to beat. Kieran Shoemark replaces the Chelmsford-bound Jack Mitchell.

The eyes are drawn to Despereaux who was strong in the market ahead of winning last week and he's turned out quickly off the same mark. Chauffeur Driven could be getting his act together and, along with Lock Out, gives David Pipe a strong hand. Happy Index has won her last two without much fuss and has to be shortlisted.
