Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Ayr

4.15: Cheshire Dancer

Seven of the last eight runnings of this have gone to a 3yo. Dancingwithmyself is respected in her hat-trick bid despite a 6lb higher mark, but preference is for Cheshire Dancer who was attempting this trip for the first time when runner-up behind an unexposed and progressive rival at Sandown last time. She is now 3lb higher but remains open to further improvement over this trip.

Chelmsford

5.30: Kinetic

Saint Riquier came up a bit short against Laser Focus (due to run 4.20 today) when 2-5 in his hat-trick bid at Brighton on Tuesday but clearly needs major respect, assuming he can perform at the same level two days later. Kinetic is a serious alternative, however, bidding for a four-timer and with elements in her pedigree and performance which give encouragement for this step up from 1m4f. Le Rouge Chinois, unlike the other two, has nothing to prove regarding stamina and he should give them plenty to think about.

Naas

2.55: Currawood

Not beaten far in two of the strongest Curragh maidens run this season, Currawood has the pace to drop down from 7f and will take plenty of beating. The well-bred, expensive purchases Mississippi River and Saracen look to be his main dangers.

Pontefract

4.05: Judgementofsolomon

A case can be made for a few of these but Sir Mark Prescott's progressive 3yo Judgementofsolomon looks set to take a big step forward now his stamina is really drawn out on this stiff track and he gets a confident vote. Course winner Dereham could emerge as the main danger, although Weddell Sea, Animato and Little Peter all command respect too.

Yarmouth

5.00: Gracious Leader

Plenty to consider in a fascinating handicap, headed by Gracious Leader, whose two AW handicap efforts have worked out well and who's open to further improvement for his new yard. Cavalry Call will be 2lb higher from the weekend following his clear second on Polytrack last Tuesday but he has to prove he's as effective on turf, while an improved showing from Maysong wouldn't surprise now back at 1m with cheekpieces refitted.
