Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Dundalk

8.30: Slieve Binnian

A race that should revolve around the Paul Rooney-owned pair. Ceallach has a formidable record at the track and won this race in 2022 and 2023, but he might just need the run after an absence. Preference is for stablemate Slieve Binnian, who won a C&D handicap emphatically when strong in the betting latest and he can continue to progress. Wednesday winner En Or is the biggest threat if turned out quickly. Adrian Wall

Exeter

1.00: Lord Of Thunder

It was a shame that Lord Of Thunder came down at the notoriously tricky second-last fence at Cheltenham as he'd jumped well until that point. He would probably have gone close but for that mishap and he's well handicapped. This will take some winning, however, and the much respected pair of The Doyen Chief (second choice) and Lowry's Bar have similarly likeable profiles to the selection. Tommys Charm is the dark horse. Newcastle

3.13: Penzance

Easter Classic runner-up Penzance is on a workable mark and holds particularly solid claims returned to Newcastle. Recent winners Dark Moon Rising (second choice) and King's Code warrant respect, while Parlando has possibilities back over this C&D. The market signals should be helpful with regard to Pride Of America. Steve Boow

Sandown

3.03: Hoe Joly Smoke

The 5yo Jupiter Allen won at Exeter last time on his second chase start and could have more to offer but preference is for Hoe Joly Smoke, who showed his best hurdle form at 3m and was a promising second over 2m4f on his chase debut in October. Beachcomber and Passing Well are other possible players. Ben Hutton

Sedgefield

2.20: Langton Wold

Clean Getaway has enjoyed a very productive spell here this autumn and the handicapper might not have caught up with him yet. However, the ground may have turned against him now and preference is for Langton Wold, who was placed behind Clean Getaway and another dual subsequent winner over C&D last month. Foster's Fortune has also been in good form here lately and is next on the list, ahead of Lightening Company. Chris Wilson
