Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Wednesday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Kempton

7.15: Chalk Mountain

The return to AW has been the making of Chalk Mountain and he completed a three-timer when an impressive winner over C&D last week. He looks the one to beat under a penalty. Upscale finished in front of two of these rivals when second over C&D last month and she looks to be the main danger. Another to consider is Mezzo Soprano who finished third over C&D a fortnight ago and should be thereabouts.

Ludlow

4.05: La Renommee

Olivers Travels has looked a different horse since cheekpieces were added in July and may still be on the upgrade but the forecast rain probably won't aid his cause and preference is for three-time course winner La Renommee, who ended last season with an excellent performance at Cheltenham and confirmed her wellbeing with a decent hurdle run a fortnight ago. Sacre Coeur needs to up her game but she's on a good mark now and it will be interesting to see whether she reverts to positive tactics.

Navan

2.51: Barton Key

An eyecatcher at Down Royal recently, Barton Key should relish this slightly longer trip and stiff finish so gets a confident vote. Gazelle d'Or looks a solid place option, with Sea Fort a potential improver.

Nottingham

4.50: Tipsy Tiger

Steel Tiger makes his handicap debut after being gelded and has to be feared. However, this may concern Tipsy Tiger and Amancio who finished first and second under similar conditions at Sandown.

3.28: Jet Of Dreams

This looks quite a competitive race and the vote goes to Jet Of Dreams who can complete a hat-trick over fences by confirming last month's C&D placings with runner-up Clean Getaway.
