Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Wednesday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Goodwood

4.05: Novus

Goodwood and testing conditions bring out the best in Novus and she is the selection ahead of the progressive handicapper Botanical. The return to deep ground should be ideal for Heartache Tonight and she is next on the list, while Passion And Glory could also have a part to play. Ben Hutton

Kempton

6.30: Hunters Run

Old Saxony is likely to come good at some point but this looks best left to Hunters Run, who created a positive impression at Lingfield 11 days ago and who has more to come over the longer trip. Beach Point and Versatile are best of the rest. Paul Smith

Listowel

4.52: Shecouldbeanything

Course hurdles winner Shecouldbeanything was second to a smart type at Galway on her chasing debut and can exploit the 7lb concession from the five previous chase winners. Broomfield Bijou may prove the pick of the penalised runners. Alan Sweetman

Perth

3.03: Statuario

There should be more to come from the returning Inis Oirr at some stage this season but the big jolt of improvement he displayed at Musselburgh in February came over 3m7f, and he probably has other valuable marathons as his main targets. Kinondo Kwetu returned to form with two good wins this summer but he may have a preference for left-handed tracks and this might be fought out by the multiple course winners Statuario and Wasdell Dundalk. The Bowen runner gets the nod. Chris Wilson

Redcar

3.55: Liberty Coach

As he won with such authority at Doncaster there must be every chance that Liberty Coach will be up to defying a penalty here. Sambucus is the dark horse as a well-bred filly making her handicap debut. Ey Up Its The Boss and Secret World should be on the premises. Alistair Jones
