Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Tuesday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Ayr

4.00: Sir Garfield

Top of the list is the 3yo Sir Garfield, who has form figures of 122282 in handicaps since July and that latest runner-up effort was over C&D 12 days ago. Second choice is Alpine Sierra, who won a division of this race last year and is on a dangerous mark on his drop back into a Class 6 event. San Isidro has claims if he can build on his third at Thirsk last time, while others to consider are Golden Valour and John L Sullivan.

Bath

5.25: Run Of Luck

This is probably best left to the improving 3yo Run Of Luck, who showed that the mud holds no fears on his penultimate start and got off the mark over C&D on his latest. Topweight Fougere is feared most.

Cork

2.30: Staysound Susie

The obvious starting point is the Sligo maiden winner Sakakawea. She is unexposed but the form of that race hasn't really worked out and it is a bit disconcerting that she hasn't been sighted since. The most solid option may be Staysound Susie. 7f probably stretched her last time, she has course form in the book, she went close off 1lb higher at Naas in July and she seems to go on most ground. Linger For Longer likes it here and has each-way claims, as does Tai Tam Bay.

Newcastle

8.30: The Cookstown Cafu

Being the type who should have more to offer on AW for his new yard, The Cookstown Cafu is taken to complete a C&D double. Patontheback, who ties in with the selection, is second choice. Streak Lightning, Showtime Mahomes and Admiral Nelson can also be viewed positively.

1.50: Treasured Company

Sue Smith's Treasured Company looked back in good nick when drawing clear to score at Cartmel in August and will be suited by the return to this C&D. He gets the vote ahead of Foster's Fortune, who scored over C&D on his handicap debut in the spring and remains lightly raced. Irish raiders Sefton Warrior and Thebeautifulgame can also feature.
