Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Listowel

4.37: Millstream Lady

Eric McNamara's Millstream Lady was an impressive winner of a C&D handicap hurdle at this festival last year and gets the nod. Second to a smart horse in a Limerick Grade 3 subsequently, her form stacks up and she could be hard to beat if she's fit after a break. Jack Kennedy will ride Big Stage who looked really good when winning a Downpatrick maiden hurdle, while Dutch Schultz could be well treated back over hurdles. Win Some Lose Some carries the JP McManus colours and the Wexford winner must be respected too. Adrian Wall

Newmarket

3.55: Al Nayyir

The level of achievement shown by Al Nayyir in the Group 2 Lonsdale Cup at York last month is a shining recommendation at this lower level, so he gets the vote even though fourth-placed Night Sparkle reopposes on slightly better terms and has been reliability itself over staying distances this season. There is also a strong, three-pronged challenge from Ireland in the shape of Samui (third choice), Harbour Wind and Fighter. Richard Austen

Perth

3.02: Building Bridges

A tight handicap. Irish raider Building Bridges moved well for a long way when sixth at the Galway festival and that was a deep race. City Derby is up in the ratings away from his beloved Cartmel so second choice goes to Idem who appeals as 6yo with more to offer. Le Renommee is handicapped to go close on this return to hurdling. Pontefract

5.23: Wen Moon

Off an attractive mark returned to Pontefract, Wen Moon is particularly interesting. Origintrail, for the same connections, may complete the forecast granted a good start. Slow ground would present a question mark for Fiscal Policy, who otherwise has a major chance. A few others also have possibilities. Steve Boow

Southwell

7.00: Have You A Minute

Being a progressive sort on AW and a C&D scorer most recently, Have You A Minute holds particularly strong claims. Embarked, who has a solid chance on recent efforts, is second choice ahead of Havana Smoke who has possibilities on the pick of his summer form. Steve Boow
