Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Tuesday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Beverley

4.30: Captain Corelli

It is hard to look beyond Captain Corelli, who is on a four-timer and escapes a penalty for last Tuesday's win at Redcar. Capital Guarantee returned to form when runner-up at Thirsk last week and is second choice ahead of Finbar's Lad and Ugo Gregory, who has a good record in this race.

Fontwell

4.50: Calshot Spit

It would be no surprise should Atreides (second choice) improve on last month's return but that might not be enough to trouble the in-form Calshot Spit who chased home a big improver on handicap hurdle debut in August and has won on the Flat since. Miss Applejack and Martin Spirit are two others worth considering.

Listowel

3.45: Princess Child

Opportunity knocks in what isn't the strongest of Listed races. Stablemates Mundi and Bomberg have much to find on the figures but neither are exposed and by no means dismissed. Fleur De Chine is a major player despite her backward step last time, but Princess Child has held her own in Listed races the last twice and returning to further looks a good move.

Newcastle

8.00: Balqaa

Off a mark she defied in her early days, Balqaa looks capable of completing a September hat-trick. Barleybrown, who remains of interest in modest C&D events, is second choice ahead of Langton Wold who shaped better than the bare result here last time.

Warwick

3.30: Get Up Mush

Castle Robin has a touch of class about him and will be dangerous off his current mark if back on song after a wind op and a break. However, there is probably still more to come from low-mileage 6yo Get Up Mush, who has made a bright start to his chasing career this season and now ventures beyond 2m5f for the first time under rules. Pull Again Green is next on the list.
