Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Wednesday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Fontwell

4.45: Drumlee Spud

This is a huge drop in grade for DRUMLEE SPUD (nap), who travelled well for a long way when seventh in a Newbury Grade 2 on her handicap debut in March and could be far too good for this field. Pennsylvanie made a low-key stable debut here 19 days ago but may yet come good for Gary and Josh Moore, and the addition of cheekpieces makes her of interest. Tuscan Rose can also feature.

Kempton

7.40: Whitcombe Rockstar

Dolce Courage looked promising last autumn and it is likely that there is plenty of mileage in his opening mark, but he does have a 12-month absence to overcome. Gorak (second choice) can feature despite his big weight, while a few of these lurk on dangerous marks if returning to their best, notably Silver Sword and Lion Of War. WHITCOMBE ROCKSTAR (nap) has been a revelation this season though and his latest course-and-distance win, where he was well positioned but looked to have more to give, offers hope that he can deal with another rise in the weights.

Navan

1.30: Bodhi Bear

This looks relatively straightforward for BODHI BEAR (nap) who has strong claims based on his second in a valuable auction race at Naas. The once-raced Mathan is an obvious place candidate, along with Asdana who showed improved form at the Curragh last week on her third start. Marianne North has also shown potential but lacks a recent run and has changed stable.

Newmarket

4.05: Lunar Eclipse

Considering that she held an Oaks entry at one stage, twice-raced LUNAR ECLIPSE (nap) is particularly interesting off an opening mark of 81. Her rivals last time included a couple of very smart fillies and this is much less demanding, back from another layoff. Market confidence would cement her claims. Solid-looking contenders Zapphire (second choice) and Surveyor warrant respect, while Twirling brings useful form and some of the others have possibilities if taking well to headgear.

Southwell

5.00: Goblet Of Fire

Assuming that he's fit and ready to roll after a six-month absence, the eased-in-grade Toonagh Warrior could prove a major force. However, the most obvious candidate is GOBLET OF FIRE (nap), who has thrived since moving to Seven Barrows. Based on his Flat exploits, and already the winner of a Hereford maiden hurdle, Nicky Henderson's progressive four-year-old could be thrown-in from a mark of 108.
