Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Monday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team . . .

Exeter

3.30: Getupearly

Off a lowly mark, Getupearly is taken to land his first success over fences. Jack Sprat will appreciate the return to a staying trip after an encouraging chase debut over 2m5f and is the main danger. Moorland Rambler ought to be doing better but has yet to click over fences and the same comment applies to Stans The Man who is yet to complete over fences.

Leicester

2.40: Purple Gown

Dual Flat winner Purple Gown looks to have a good opportunity to get off the mark over hurdles following her solid run at Newcastle last time. The unexposed Bobbigrey and last week's Sedgefield winner Suitably Surprised are two others with a chance.

Plumpton

2.20: Eaton Anne

This looks a good opportunity for Eaton Anne to get off the mark over hurdles. He has most to fear from Smugglers Haven who made a winning handicap debut at Hereford last month. Highway One O Five may pick up one of these at some point but Gaia Vallis was out of sorts last winter and has been off since January.

Southwell

6.45: The Coffee Pod

Richard Hannon's The Coffee Pod signalled he is ready to strike again when a recent runner-up at Nottingham so looks the way to go here at the chief expense of Grant Tuer's Je Ne Sais Quoi, who rates a big threat now he is able to race off his proper mark. Dashing Harry and One More Wave\ appeal as the pick of the rest for minor honours.

Wolverhampton

8.00: Simiyann

Although he remains on a career-high mark, Simiyann is very appealing with this return to Wolverhampton a big plus. He recorded two easy wins here last month and is first choice ahead of Little Peter, who may show further progress. Caustic and Alrazeen are other respected contenders on October form, while Diamond Bay looks attractively handicapped.
