Zarkava won this contest in 2007 and the cruising speed, acceleration and class her younger relative showed over this course and distance last time should see her beat Bedtime Story et al.

There's every chance for an upset in the second Group 1 contest as Henri Matisse looked quirky in the National Stakes and the form of both Field Of Gold's Solario Stakes, and his trainers John and Thady Gosden, can be questioned. Misunderstood is towards the top of the list but the tearaway front-runner could set it up for the strong-staying Cowardofthecounty, who beat Houquetot with ease in August.

There's no need to reinvent the wheel in the Abbaye as Bradsell has looked head and shoulders above his opposition this season. The four-year-old has hammered Believing in the Nunthorpe and Flying Five the last twice and seems to handle any type of ground. He's an uncomplicated ride and should be suited by this particular five-furlong track.

Maddy's tip: Sevenna's Knight

I've chopped and changed my mind on this race having backed Delius ante-post and Continuous during the week. However, I can't resist a play on the 66-1 shot Sevenna's Knight in an ordinary renewal of the Arc. The colt put up a career-best performance at this track over two furlongs further last time having won a Group 2 and a Group 3 here earlier this season, showing a decent turn of foot to beat the highly touted Harbour Wind. He was clearly below his best when tried over this trip in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud in June, but otherwise boasts the profile of an improving stayer who is worth another try at middle distances. His trainer Andre Fabre has won this race more than anyone and could pull off a shock.
