Kelso Placepot picks: Tom Segal's attempts to land the £50,000 guaranteed pool

Flower of Scotland, who won the Borders National at Kelso (2.05) in 2022, bids to win the race again off a 7lb lower mark and has to go in the Placepot perm.

She shaped as if she retained most of her old ability at Carlisle on her comeback run, but that's not guaranteed and so the in-form Raceview Road goes in as well.

Course-and-distance winner Ginger Mail goes well fresh and should go close in the 2m handicap hurdle (12.25), as should Old Gregorian, who looked a hurdler going places at Wetherby last time.

Young Jack shaped well in a good race at Carlisle last time and is a must for the 2m6½f handicap hurdle (1.30). It was a tempting to bank on him, but it is a competitive contest and Follow Charlie, who will appreciate the step up in trip, goes in as well after his good run at Ayr recently.

Matata seems to be getting better and this track should suit his front-running style. He looks the one to beat in the 2m1f handicap chase (2.40), while the other bankers are Young Getaway in the opening 2m maiden hurdle (11.55) and Roaring Home in the 2m5f mares' novice hurdle (12.55).
