Tipping Cracking the puzzle

Charlie Huggins opens up with a 2-1 winner and has more tips for the ITV4 races at Kelso and Huntingdon on Sunday

The Punt tipster Charlie Huggins has landed 9-2, 9-4 and 6-4 winners from his last five tips

Charlie assesses the seven live ITV4 races from Huntingdon's Peterborough Chase card and Kelso's Premier meeting on Sunday . . .

Charlie’s tip: Djelo

Protektorat has lost four of his five starts at right-handed tracks and Ginny's Destiny disappointed on his only previous outing at this venue in last year's Sidney Banks. Therefore, Djelo could be the value option to provide more major weekend success for Venetia Williams. Any rain will suit the trainer's six-year-old, who has already won a Grade 2 on a right-handed track at this sort of trip courtesy of his six-length victory over subsequent Coral Gold Cup winner Kandoo Kid 12 months ago.

2.05 Kelso
Bruce Farms Scottish Borders National Handicap Chase, 4m½f

Charlie’s tip: Flower Of Scotland

Flower Of Scotland won this race off a 7lb higher mark in 2022 and boasts form figures of 1113 at Kelso. The nine-year-old’s trainer Sandy Thomson has landed five of the last eight runnings of this marathon contest and his mare is rated 13lb lower than when a respectable eighth in the Eider Chase. Tommie Beau and Cruz Control, a subsequent winner at the Grand National meeting, were ahead of Flower Of Scotland on that occasion and she should find things easier at her favourite track.

Charlie’s tip: Go To War

Go To War won novice hurdles at Ludlow on his final two starts for Fergal O'Brien and the second of those two victories makes for good reading. The six-year-old beat Court In The Act by three lengths off level weights and the runner-up has already won a handicap off a rating of 118 by eight lengths this season. That suggests a mark of 123 could yield a successful handicap debut for Go To War on his first appearance for Nicky Henderson.

Richard Landale Memorial Handicap Chase, 2m1f

Charlie’s tip: Nells Son

Nells Son beat Grand Annual hero Unexpected Party and last-time-out Cheltenham winner Path D'Oroux when making a successful reappearance at Carlisle. The nine-year-old was competing off level weights with the runner-up and giving the third 4lb, despite being rated 8lb and 6lb inferior to both. That suggests Nicky Richards’s representative should be able to cope with a 6lb rise at a venue where he has won a Grade 2 and a handicap chase.

Charlie’s tip: Jack Sprat

Jack Sprat has won twice at this track over hurdles and is rated only 2lb higher than his last course success in March. The Jamie Snowden-trained son of Walk In The Park was fifth on his chasing debut and the runner-up and sixth from that Wetherby race have won since. Jack Sprat chased home Stans The Man, who followed up off a 5lb higher mark, at Exeter last time and has a great chance of going one better here.

3.15 Kelso
Schloss Roxburghe Hotel & Spa Novices' Limited Handicap Chase, 2m7½f

Charlie’s tip: Whistle Stop Tour

Whistle Stop Tour made a respectable chasing debut when finishing third over an inadequate 2m4½f trip behind White Rhino. The winner followed up off a 5lb higher mark at Haydock on Wednesday and the step up in trip should suit the selection, who won a 3m Loughrea point-to-point on going officially described as soft to heavy.

Charlie’s tip: Kapability

The form of Kapability's successful debut at Aintree has worked out well as she beat subsequent Cheltenham Listed runner-up Siog Geal by two lengths. That suggests the four-year-old should be capable of striking in this grade and Queenofthejukebox, who she beat by seven and a quarter lengths last time, further franked the form when winning by six and a half lengths on her next outing.
