'It would be disappointing if he didn't prove better than his mark' - in-form Harry Wilson with his Saturday ITV tips

Harry Wilson found Fillies' Mile winner Desert Flower on Friday and is back with his advice for all eight races live on ITV from York and Newmarket on Saturday . . .

1.15 Newmarket
Space Blues Darley Stakes (Group 3), 1m1f

Harry's tip: Ancient Rome

Ancient Rome made an instant impact for Charlie Hills last year, making light of his handicap mark at Glorious Goodwood before landing the Mint Millions at Kentucky Downs. He ran well behind subsequent Champion Stakes third Horizon Dore in the Prix Dollar on his final start and stepped forward again when chasing home the talented Quddwah in the Summer Mile in July. He's had wind surgery since his latest outing and is the pick of these on his best form.

1.30 York
Coral Rockingham Stakes (Listed), 6f

Harry's tip: Invictus Gold

Invictus Gold has been a big improver for Tom Clover since being gelded, following up a cosy victory at Southwell (form franked by the next three all winning since) with a comfortable success under a penalty at Newmarket. He pulled two lengths clear of a useful runner-up there, with the third more than eight lengths further back, and looked at home in easy conditions. He can cope with this rise in class.

1.50 Newmarket
Palace Pier Zetland Stakes (Group 3), 1m2f

Harry's tip: Starzintheireyes

Starzintheireyes was a promising second on his debut in a race that has worked out well – with the winner following up in the Solario and the next four home all having won since – and built on that when winning at Leicester last month. He pricked his ears and idled when in front that day, so is value for more than the length-and-a-half margin suggests, and there's every chance this trip will bring more improvement, given there's plenty of stamina on his dam's side.

2.05 York
Coral "Daily Rewards Shaker" Handicap, 1m2½f

Harry's tip: Valvano

Valvano looked a potentially smart colt when impressively winning on his debut at Nottingham last October and confirmed that promise when finishing second in a conditions race at Kempton that couldn't have worked out better. He was beaten just two lengths by Notable Speech, who subsequently won the 2,000 Guineas and the Sussex Stakes, while third placed Persica and fifth-placed Witness Stand are now rated 112 and 115 after Listed wins. He should be better for his return from five months off and wind surgery and, with soft conditions sure to suit, he could prove better than opening mark of 97 here.

2.25 Newmarket
Emirates Autumn Stakes (Group 3), 1m

Harry's tip: Nightwalker

Silver Peak must be feared, with Charlie Appleby going for a fifth consecutive win in the race, but Nightwalker is the pick at the prices. He was very green when third on his debut behind subsequent Solario runner-up Matauri Bay before landing a typically strong Yarmouth maiden last time. He was always doing enough to hold off Ultrasoul, who had previously chased home Middle Park winner Shadow Of Light, despite still being green. This half-brother to Grade 1 winner Whitebeam is open to further improvement over this trip.

2.40 York
Coral Sprint Trophy Handicap, 6f

Harry's tip: Strike Red

Strike Red has two wins from three starts on soft ground and encounters an easy surface for the first time since winning at the Curragh last year off a mark 2lb higher than he is today. He's run plenty of good races this year on unfavourable ground, notably going down by just three-quarters of a length to Elmonjed over course and distance in August, and won this two years ago off just 1lb lower. Everything looks in place for a big run.

3.00 Newmarket
Darley Dewhurst Stakes (Group 1), 7f

Harry's tip: Ancient Truth

Ancient Truth was very impressive when winning the Superlative Stakes in July, while the reopposing Seagulls Eleven, runner-up in the Superlative, did his bit for the form when third in a Group 1 last time. Ancient Truth has been kept back with this race in mind and can prove he's the stable's number one 2,000 Guineas contender, despite William Buick opting for Middle Park winner Shadow Of Light.

3.40 Newmarket
Club Godolphin Cesarewitch Handicap, 2m2f

Harry's tip: Reverend Hubert

Reverend Hubert won twice over 2m when trained by Richard Hannon, shaping as if he would stay this extra distance, and could be underestimated by a mark of 83 based on his exploits over jumps since. He showed a good level of form over hurdles after joining Charles Byrnes, being rated 134, and has improved again over fences with a rating of 144. He was entitled to need his sole Flat run for Byrnes in April, having been off the track for six months, but he's fit from chasing this time and gets in on just 8st 2lb, which is 5lb below jockey Sean Davis's lowest riding weight in the past 12 months.
