Harry Wilson has fired in three winners and has more tips for the ITV action on Friday
Harry Wilson is back with his advice for all seven races live on ITV from Cheltenham and Doncaster on Friday . . .
1.50 Cheltenham
William Hill Top Price Guarantee Novices' Chase, 2m
Harry's tip: Path D'Oroux
Gavin Cromwell has had plenty of success at the Showcase meeting and looks to have found Path D'Oroux the perfect opportunity to open his account over fences. He was a fine second to Madara in a Listed handicap chase at the Dublin Racing Festival in February before placing in the Grand Annual and the Red Rum at the Cheltenham and Aintree festivals. He's hugely favoured by the weights and can use his experience edge to his advantage.
2.08 Doncaster
British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes, 1m
Harry's tip: Queen Of Thieves
Janey Mackers sets the standard of those with form, but she was beaten by a John and Thady Gosden-trained and Oppenheimer-owned newcomer at Yarmouth three weeks ago and a similar outcome looks likely here, with Queen Of Thieves catching the eye. She's a sister to dual Champion Stakes winner Cracksman and hails from a yard that took this in 2022 with subsequent Oaks heroine Soul Sister.
2.25 Cheltenham
squareintheair.com Handicap Chase, 2m
Harry's tip: Calico
Calico lost his form in the second half of last season, but he has become well handicapped and is sure to be primed for this contest, having finished second at Cheltenham first time out for the last two seasons. He might have won at the Paddy Power meeting last year had he not pressed on as early and was only just beat by Triple Trade, who is 6lb worse off with him here, while his best form is on good ground, so conditions should be perfect.
2.43 Doncaster
William Hill Committed To Top Prices Handicap, 1m
Harry's tip: Harper's Ferry
Harper's Ferry was too keen on his handicap debut at Doncaster last month, but very few got into that race and I'm willing to give him another chance. He showed plenty of promise on his sole juvenile start, finishing second over a mile with the now 116-rated Almaqam five lengths behind in fourth, and got off the mark at the third attempt at Windsor in April over 1m2f. He won with something to spare that day and the form looks good, with the second and sixth now rated in the low 90s, while the third has won since. Soft ground might be a bonus, as could the drop to a mile, and it would be disappointing if he didn't prove better than a mark of 93.
3.00 Cheltenham
Sky Bet Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2), 2m½f
Harry's tip: Gale Mahler
Gale Mahler will be a short price but deserves to be, given she's rated 8lb higher than her nearest rival yet is in receipt of weight all round and her form couldn't be working out better. Her Uttoxeter win in June was paid a huge compliment when runner-up Flying Fortune, who was more than two lengths behind, landed the Persian War, and she was mightily impressive in winning a Listed race by ten lengths when last seen in July, from which the fourth has since won a Grade 3. She is the one they all have to beat.
3.18 Doncaster
William Hill More Top Prices Handicap, 6f
Harry's tip: Magical Spirit
Recent form figures of 0009 don't inspire huge confidence, but Magical Spirit is now just 1lb higher than when winning over course and distance in April and there's every chance the return here could spark a resurgence. He has recorded his top three RPRs over course and distance on soft ground, including finishing second in a Listed contest, and his good record here also includes victory in this race in 2021.
3.35 Cheltenham
Glenfarclas Amateur Jockeys' Handicap Chase, 3m1f
Harry's tip: Strictlyadancer
I was really impressed with how Strictlyadancer travelled through the veterans' chase on his reappearance at Chepstow two weeks ago and although he was ultimately well beaten after being asked for his effort, he has tended to need his first run of the season and is entitled to come on for it. He used that contest as a stepping stone to finishing a close fourth in this race last year and this course-and-distance winner should be a big player of a 2lb lower mark this time (9lb if accounting for the jockey's claim).
