Harry Wilson fired in three winners on Saturday - find out his fancies for day three at Cheltenham
Harry Wilson found three winners on Saturday and is back with his advice for all six races on day three of Cheltenham's November meeting on Sunday, plus the ITV race at Fontwell . . .
1.10 Cheltenham
Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice Maiden Hurdle, 2m½f
Harry's tip: Maghlaak
Whimsy is sure to go well after her narrow Galway second and Ace Of Spades is improving with each run, but they don't set a daunting standard and a chance is taken on hurdling debutant Maghlaak. Adrian Keatley has previous with sending good Flat performers over jumps, with Kihavah earning a rating of 136 after chasing home Rubaud in the Elite Hurdle, and, rated 86 in that sphere, Maghlaak could prove the best of these if transferring that ability to hurdling.
1.45 Cheltenham
mallardjewellers.com Novices' Limited Handicap Chase, 2m4f
Harry's tip: Leader In The Park
A lightly raced six-year-old, Leader In The Park showed plenty of promise over hurdles, notably splitting 132-rated and 129-rated rivals at Ascot on his debut last November and getting the better of a subsequent winner at Doncaster in February. He looks an obvious type to improve over fences, given he was picked up for £250,000 after winning a point-to-point by 56 lengths in February last year and is a half-brother to dual Grade 1-winning chaser Benefficient. He should have plenty of scope from an opening mark of 121.
2.05 Fontwell
BetGoodwin Southern National Handicap Chase, 3m3½f
Harry's tip: Glimpse Of Gala
Musical Slave had dropped a long way down the weights before winning last time and is still well treated, while River Tyne is respected on her hat-trick bid, but Glimpse Of Gala showed more than enough promise on just her second chase start when rallying for second over an inadequate trip last time to suggest she could win a race like this. She was a thorough stayer over hurdles, so this trip should suit, and she's still unexposed over fences.
2.20 Cheltenham
Three Counties Christmas Handicap Chase, 2m
Harry's tip: Matata
Only a neck separated Calico and Matata at the last meeting, but with the former running without his usual cheekpieces and the latter still open to further improvement, I can see the form being reversed. Matata is 1lb better off here and given he got within half a length of JPR One off level weights in January, this mark of 150 shouldn't be beyond him, while Saturday's rain is in his favour.
2.55 Cheltenham
Holland Cooper Handicap Chase, 3m3½f
Harry's tip: Hymac
Hymac hadn't won in five starts since making an impressive stable debut in a bumper two years ago but finally fulfilled that promise when taking a 3m4f handicap chase on the New course here in April. That was his first go at a marathon trip and on good ground, and he relished the test, finding plenty on the run-in to hold a subsequent winner. He won on his reappearance over hurdles last month and should continue his progress here.
3.30 Cheltenham
Unibet Greatwood Handicap Hurdle, 2m½f
Harry's tip: Be Aware
Go Dante was my pick at the start of the season, but, while I still expect him to run a good race, he won't be seen to best effect on this surface. Dysart Enos must be a danger, but I'm siding with Be Aware, who was beaten just half a length on his handicap debut at Sandown in April. The third has since been beaten just a length in the Welsh Champion Hurdle, while the sixth has won subsequently, so the form looks solid. He still looks to be on a good mark and Dan Skelton has won this twice in recent years with runners making their reappearances.
4.00 Cheltenham
Junior Jumpers Open National Hunt Flat Race (Listed), 2m½f
Harry's tip: Minella Hollow
Minella Hollow looked a useful prospect when winning two bumpers earlier in the year, overcoming greenness to see off a subsequent dual winner at Ballinrobe in May before giving 9lb and a six-length beating to a previous winner at Roscommon in June. He still looked very much in need of the experience last time, with his raw ability seeing him comfortably stretch clear in the final furlong, and he is well ahead of the field on Racing Post Ratings.
