Harry Wilson has struck with 5-4, 11-4 and 3-1 winners on New Year's Day and has one selection still to run
Harry Wilson was in sparkling form in December, tipping 16 winners from 46 selections for a strike-rate of 35 per cent and a profit of more than £42.00. He returns with his advice for all seven races at Cheltenham on New Year's Day – plus the two ITV contests at Musselburgh . . .

Harry's tip: Vincenzo
Tedley has finished second to both of today's rivals and has a chance of reversing form on revised terms, but he's a touch more exposed than the others and it would be disappointing if they didn't have a bit more scope. Grade 2 hurdle winner Kalif Du Berlais is well regarded and should progress further, but Vincenzo could get an easy time of it on the lead and is preferred. He proved suited by the switch to chasing last time, taking his record at 2m over jumps to 2-2, and that form received a boost when third-placed The Famous Five won at Newbury on Saturday.

Harry's tip: Diva Luna
Pierrot Jaguen was bought for £200,000 in March and his point win has worked out well, but he'll have his work cut out to concede 7lb to Diva Luna on his debut over hurdles. Diva Luna showed useful ability in bumpers, landing a Listed event before winning a Grade 2 contest at Aintree's Grand National meeting, a race that has worked out well. She didn't quite have the speed to deal with Metkayina (fourth in that Grade 2 bumper) on her hurdling debut, but she's bred for this longer distance and should have no problem getting off the mark at the second attempt.

Harry's tip: Broadway Boy
This looks best left to Broadway Boy, who was raised just 2lb for his fine second in the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury in November. That form has already received notable boosts, with Victtorino (third) winning the Howden Silver Cup and Henry's Friend (fifth) taking the Mandarin, while he's unbeaten on Cheltenham's New course and won't mind any rain that falls.

Harry's tip: Benson
There are a few unexposed ones in the line-up, but they'll have to improve on anything they've achieved to best Benson, who has won this race for the last two years. He was set some tough tasks after winning this last year, and did far too much in front on his reappearance/chasing debut in October, but finds himself 4lb lower this time around. He's yet to run a bad race at Musselburgh and is likely to have his own way in front.

Harry's tip: Springwell Bay
Springwell Bay was a useful hurdler and wasted no time in opening his account over fences, jumping well and merely needing to be pushed out to gain a comfortable success in a Listed contest at Chepstow in October. The third from that race has since landed the Grade 2 Rising Stars at Wincanton, so the form looks solid, and he shaped well when not seeing out three miles behind Hyland in November before running a fine race in second when trying to give Grade 1 novice hurdle winner Jango Baie 8lb in the 2m4½f novice chase at Cheltenham last month. He's on a workable mark and looks tailor-made for this.

Virgin Bet Auld Reekie Handicap Chase, 2m4½f
Harry's tip: Breizh River
Corrigeen Rock is the class horse in the race and his victory over course and distance in February reads very well, but his tendency to jump to his left is still a negative and he might struggle to give 11lb to Breizh River, who shapes as though he'll be suited by this longer trip. He took his record over fences to 3-4 with a gutsy victory at Kelso in October before being set an impossible task against subsequent Grade 1 winner L'Eau Du Sud at Cheltenham. He should have more to offer back in a handicap.

Harry's tip: Deep Cave
It wouldn't surprise me if Catch Him Derry bounces back from a poor effort at Haydock last time and he still looks fairly treated on his second to Gwennie May Boy at Bangor in February, but with significant rain in the forecast, this might be the time to catch Deep Cave. He looks well handicapped on the pick of his form, notably beat Lot Of Joy, Firm Footings and Moon D'Orange in a Leopardstown maiden hurdle in December 2022 when trained in Ireland, and was an eyecatching fifth when upped to this trip on the Old course here in November. He looked outpaced before staying on well that day and should be more comfortable on a softer surface.

Harry's tip: Lucky Place
Lucky Place was progressive last season, going down by just half a length to the highly regarded Gidleigh Park in a Grade 2 before a fine fourth in the Coral Cup when Nicky Henderson's stable wasn't firing, and bettered anything he'd done when taking the Ascot Hurdle on his reappearance. He's got to carry a 6lb penalty, but he's still 4lb better off with Golden Ace for a three-quarter-length defeat at Taunton last January, and he'll be suited by the longer trip and softer ground, so could find even more improvement this season.

Harry's tip: Our Boy Stan
Anthony Honeyball is operating at a 28 per cent strike-rate with his bumper runners this season and is represented by three, with the unraced Walk In The West seemingly first string on jockey bookings. He needs respect, as does Gnomon, an impressive winner of an Exeter bumper who has the eyecatching booking of Harry Cobden, but slight preference is for Our Boy Stan, a half-brother to useful bumper winners Go Dante and Little Miss Dante whose stable does well in bumpers, including taking this race two years ago.
