Exeter Placepot tips: Paul Kealy's perm for the £50,000 guaranteed pool
You'll have to find a couple of winners if you're having a crack at the £50,000 guaranteed Placepot pool at Exeter, and it won't be easy, despite long odds-on shots in two races.
Skyjack Highjack has easily the best hurdles form in the opener (12.40), but Captain Bellamy, very promising on his winning bumper debut last season, had a good write-up in Paul Nicholls' stable tour and is hard to leave out.
I'll take a chance by banking on the Nicholls-trained Sorceleur in the next (1.15), even though he was beaten at odds-on last month. His bumper form is clearly the best on offer and his return came when all the Nicholls horses needed a run.
Captain Teague is another odds-on shot in the three-runner third (1.50), but Deafening Silence was a promising hurdler in the early part of last season, winning both starts well, including a Grade 2, and he has the size to make mincemeat of stiffer jumping tests than Exeter's.
The Haldon Gold Cup (2.25) has an open look to it, but I'm quite strong on the chances of Djelo and will leave it to him, which gives more scope for the latter races.
Jaminska looks well treated in the fifth and might appreciate this drop in trip, while Harry Cobden riding Micronormous for David Pipe (he's 4-11 for the yard) looks interesting.
The ground looks right for Egbert to run a big race in the last (3.35), while Tea Clipper is no fan of winning, but is too well handicapped to leave out of the equation.
