Doncaster Placepot tips: Paul Kealy's perm for the £100,000 guaranteed pool
Shadow Dance looks the most solid of the runners in Doncaster's opener (1.50) and I'm quite happy to bank on him for Placepot purposes and hope that all eight runners stand their ground.
Jonquil is a much shorter price for the second race (2.25), but I'm never that keen on banking on once-raced horses, especially those who need to find a bit of improvement on maiden form, so Mr Chaplin, better than he showed at York when never really travelling, goes in too.
Magnum Force and Coto De Caza are the two I like most in the Flying Childers (3.00), while in the Doncaster Cup (3.35), last year's one-two of Trueshan and Sweet William should provide us with at least one of the two available places.
The fifth leg (4.10) is another tricky heat with only two places available. You could really make a case for any of them, but Cabrera is the one who is in really good form, while any more showers at Doncaster will suit There's The Door, who has run much better this season than her price for this run-of-the-mill handicap would suggest.
The final leg (4.45) is a juvenile maiden in which those with form look to be nothing special, including Aidan O'Brien's Whirl, who has been on the drift since the first shows came out.
One who has been popular is in-form Adrian Keatley's Thanks Angel, a Dark Angel half-sister to three fairly useful winners on easy ground.
Kingsclere, a sister to 2,000 Guineas winner Kameko who was going to make her debut at Salisbury last week before the meeting was rained off, would be the other token choice.
