Doncaster Placepot picks: Tom Segal attempts to crack the £50,000 guaranteed pool

Tipster

Belfrina bumped into a decent one on her hurdling debut and will be hard to keep out of the frame in the juvenile event (11.52) that kicks off the Placepot at Doncaster.

The novice handicap chase (12.27) that follows may only have three runners, but any of them can win, so it makes sense to include Insurrection, Idy Wood and Hurlerontheditch.

Eternal Angel wouldn't appear to be one of Nicky Henderson's stars, but he should still be easily good enough to go close in the novice hurdle (1.02).

Henderson also has strong claims in the Listed mares' chase with Fantastic Lady (1.38), but she has a bit to find with Gavin Cromwell's Brides Hill, who has won her last four over fences and goes in instead.

Onemorefortheroad always runs well at Doncaster and could well be suited by stepping up in trip in the 3m handicap chase (2.12).

Course specialist Erne River doesn't have very inspiring form figures, but he's enticingly handicapped back over hurdles (2.47) and is well worth including. However, he obviously comes with question marks and Pyffo, who should come on for last month's reappearance at Wincanton, needs to go in the perm as well.
