David Jennings' Saturday nap was a winner - he's back to guide you through a super Sunday of jumps action

What's the big story?

Let's start in Ireland where the two-time Champion Chase hero Energumene makes his eagerly awaited return to action in the Bar One Racing Hilly Way Chase (2.15), a Grade 2 he won in 2021 and again in 2022.

We haven't seen him for 593 days, so he could be vulnerable if there are cobwebs to be blown away, and Willie Mullins supplies six of the eight runners, which include Dinoblue, Ferny Hollow and Appreciate It. It could be a corker.

It's Trustatrader Peterborough Chase (1.50) day at Huntington, where a select field of five lock horns. Last season's Ryanair Chase winner Protektorat is the standout contender but he has two young rivals in Ginny's Destiny and Djelo to take on. It's a hot affair.

So, who wins the Peterborough Chase?

Beauty before age, for me. Djelo is an attractive six-year-old going places fast and there was plenty to like about his comeback in the Haldon Gold Cup. This longer trip looks sure to suit and 7-2 seems a cracking price.

Will Energumene make a winning return at Cork?

I'm not so sure. He's been off for a long, long time and maybe now is the time to catch stablemate Appreciate It, who doesn't win half the races he should but has a terrific record first time out, and could be a big danger to all. I can't believe he's 16-1.

What's the bet of the day?

It will take half the day to run the Borders National (2.05) at Kelso, but if you have that sort of time to spare have a few quid on Raceview Road. He looks as if he would keep going until Wednesday, so the step up to this marathon trip looks ideal. He's an unexposed stayer, only six, and his handicap mark of 105 could be exploited.

What is the lay of the day?

Protektorat looks very short in the Peterborough Chase, given the standard of opposition. He is a proper Grade 1 horse, but Djelo and Ginny's Destiny are big dangers.
