Cheltenham Placepot tips: Paul Kealy's perm for the £150,000 guaranteed pool
Only three go in Cheltenham's opener (12.20), but if you're doing a Placepot I'd stick them all in and move on. They've all got form that ties them in very closely and I wouldn't want to pick two out of three, let alone one.
It's possible that in the following maiden hurdle (12.55), £200,000 purchase Pierrot Jaguen is quite useful, but Aintree bumper winner Diva Luna is going to be very hard to keep out of the frame.
She disappointed on her debut when turned over at odds-on, but that's still the best hurdles form on offer and she looked a stayer, so going up in trip should see her in a better light.
In the next (1.30) I've got no desire to take on Broadway Boy, who loves Cheltenham and won't mind any rain that falls, while the obvious pair for the fourth (2.05) are Springwell Bay and Colonel Harry.
The fast-improving Strackan and What A Johnny are my two in the 3m handicap hurdle (2.40), while I am quite keen on the chances of Salver at least being placed in the Relkeel Hurdle (3.15).
That said, Langer Dan is hard to leave out for all that he is expected to hit form later in the season. Given his current rating, he can afford to run well below form and still be in the first two, so he goes in as well.
