Ascot Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway's selections for a £100,000 guaranteed pool

The Tote’s £100,000 Placepot guarantee is at Ascot on Friday and the opening 2m5½f conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle (12.45) is a tough one. It’s worth taking on favourite Double Powerful with the well-treated Whatsupwithyou and Stay If U Want To.

The 2m5½f maiden hurdle (1.20) comes up next and it will be exciting to see what useful bumper performer Block Rockin Beats can do over obstacles. Belliano also goes in the perm.

Only four runners line up for the 2m1f novice limited handicap chase (1.55) and the winner will be needed. Take on Iberico Lord with Ryan’s Rocket and Here Comes Georgie.

Four places are on offer for the following 1m7½f handicap hurdle (2.30) and Soldierofthestorm is one of my best bets of the day. Put him in alongside Typhoon Flyer.

The winner is needed in the 2m3f novice chase (3.05) and Rare Edition is the one I don’t like, so put Johnnywho, Personal Ambition and Mark Of Gold into the perm. The final leg is the 1m7½f bumper (3.40) and Step Ahead could go well, while Moneygarrow is a likely player.
