A combination to follow and an in-form trainer - stats for Friday's racing
There are five meetings on Friday at Lingfield, Huntingdon, Doncaster, Dundalk and Wolverhampton. Here are statistics from each track which could help your punting today . . .
Lingfield
Sean Levey has had four winners from his 17 rides in 2023 and backing those horses would have brought about a level-stakes profit of £17.63.
He travels to Lingfield for three rides on Friday's seven-race card. The first being Ciao Adios, who benefited from the addition of blinkers when running out a 25-1 winner at Southwell last week and she aims to follow up in the 1m4f handicap (2.50).
Great Bedwyn bids to put a disappointing debut run behind him when lining up in the 1m2f novice (3.25), before Levey partners Mick's Spirit in the card-closing 5f handicap (3.55) for trainer Conrad Allen.
Huntingdon
Fergal O'Brien has been a go-to man for Huntingdon punters in the last five seasons, sending out 29 winners from his 101 runners. That 29 per cent strike-rate has yielded a level-stakes profit of £38.73.
His only entry on Friday's card comes in the 2m mares' bumper (4.10), where Dontyawantme aims to get off the mark at the second attempt under rules.
A winning pointer, this six-year-old made a promising start for connections when third in a Newcastle bumper on Boxing Day. She can be expected to come on for that outing, which was her first in over 400 days, and Connor Brace now replaces Tom Broughton in the saddle.
Doncaster
Paddy Brennan has been particularly potent when riding at Doncaster in the last five years. His 33 per cent strike-rate (12-36) also yielding a level-stakes profit of £52.50.
The Brennan and Fergal O'Brien partnership is in action when Greyval contests the 2m½f Listed fillies' juvenile hurdle (2.40). She finished just under two lengths behind Arclight over course and distance last month and renews the rivalry in this.
Dundalk
Ciaran Murphy trained a 25-1 winner at Dundalk last week and that enhanced his level-stakes profit at the track to £88.70 in the last five seasons.
Backing Murphy's runners at Dundalk with Colin Keane booked to ride has proven an angle worth following. That combination is operating at a 25 per cent strike-rate (3-12) and when betting blind would have yielded an £8.20 profit.
They team up with Coolcalmncollected in the penultimate race on the card (7.00). This Ardad gelding was twice a course and distance winner at the backend of last year and will appreciate the return to sprinting, having found 7f too far last time out.
Wolverhampton
Mark Loughnane is enjoying an excellent start to 2023 which is mainly down to his record at Wolverhampton, where ten of his 22 runners have won. That impressive 45 per cent strike-rate has yielded a £24.46 level-stakes profit.
He has three runners on Friday's card, with First Charge running in the opening 2m½f handicap (5.15) for owner Laurence Bellman.
Billy Loughnane is booked to ride First Charge, and he is also on board when the four-timer-seeking Algheed contests the 7f handicap (6.45). Mark Loughnane's final Friday runner is Won Love, who was a course-and-distance winner eight days ago, and runs in the following 7f handicap (7.15).
