Exeter Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway starts his perm with three bankers

Big fields at Exeter make the Placepot an appealing bet and the opening 2m2½f mares’ novice hurdle (12.00) looks like a good opportunity for a banker because I fancy Lassue.

I’ll also bank in the following 2m½f maiden hurdle (12.30). Great Ocean was a good second on his hurdles bow at Southwell last month and a stiffer track will suit the Irish point winner.

Deeper Blue is another banker in the 2m2½f handicap hurdle (1.05) but, in the following 3m handicap chase (1.40), it’s worth including lightly raced pair No Rematch and Illegal Model.

Only five are declared for the 2m1½f mares’ novice chase (2.15) and the Harry Fry-trained Punchestown festival winner Pure Bliss is the most likely winner. However, only two places will be on offer and maybe the consistent Maskada can provide a safety blanket.

The last leg is the 2m3f handicap chase (2.45) and this is a wide-open race. The consistent Caspers Court looks sure to run well again and Troed Y Melin might be the best alternative.
