Must have some engine as he jumped terribly in the first half of his British debut at Wetherby but still managed to win.

Jumping did get better in the straight, though, and he shaped very much as though this stiffer test would suit, so looks the one to beat.

David Jennings: 'There was so much to like'

You could argue Notre Pari has had his fair share of chances to break his duck over fences but he has been crying out for a strongly run 2m and that is what he is going to get here.

There was so much to like about the way he jumped and travelled on his return from a 221-day absence at Carlisle last month. So much so that he hit a low of 1.2 in-running on the exchanges.

With that run under his belt, and back over the minimum trip, he ought to come into his own, and a mark of 129 over fences, 6lb lower than his hurdles mark, looks very attractive given how well he jumps.
