'This filly looks a nice prospect as she won the 7f batch run in the fastest time' - Justin O'Hanlon's future winners
Last Wednesday saw the third and final day of Irish Thoroughbred Marketing's barrier trials for 2024. Held for the first time at Leopardstown, it attracted 73 runners in nine batches, all bar one of which were for two-year-olds.
Joseph O'Brien usually dominates the numbers, but he had only 13 of the 73 horses on display, and it was encouraging for the long-term future of these trials that other trainers took up the slack and kept the numbers up, and some unfamiliar stables sent out some potentially nice prospects.
