The New One can maintain his vice-like grip on Saturday’s Unibet Champion Hurdle Trial (2.40) at Haydock.

Winner of the race for the past three years, Nigel Twiston-Davies’s sprightly ten-year-old remains as good as ever judged on his form this season. He earned his best figures of the campaign when beating last year’s runner-up Clyne in the Welsh Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las in October, earning the best figure of his career outside the Champion Hurdle, and should again have too many guns for that rival.
