A British-trained horse has never won the Lexus Melbourne Cup at Flemington, but they have gone mighty close on numerous occasions and it could be this is the year the hoodoo is broken.

Having said that, the locals haven't made it easy for the raiders because nearly all the fancied ones are drawn out wide and twice in the last three years the race has been totally dominated by those drawn low.
