Ayr Placepot picks: Olly Eden provides his perm from the Scottish track

Ayr is the preferred destination for a crack at the Placepot with a competitive card on offer.

Harswell Duke has not been beaten far in some better races this season and could be the answer in the opening apprentice handicap over a mile (1.14), while Engles Rock is also worth including for the in-form Lucinda Russell.

James Tate makes the long journey from Newmarket with United Approach, who caught the eye when fifth on debut in a race which is working out well and should win the 6f maiden (1.44).

Tothenines remains unexposed as a sprinter and is the main fancy for the 6f handicap (2.19), while Maple Jack arrives fresh and remains open to plenty of improvement.

Provided they go a good gallop, Jump The Gun should at least make the frame in the 7f handicap (2.54). Love De Vega could still be ahead of his mark and rates the main danger.

The following 7f handicap (3.29) is wide open, but Northbound arrives in good form and is worth including, alongside dual course-and-distance winner Global Humor.

Far From A Ruby acts well at this venue and shouldn't be underestimated in the second division of the 7f handicap (4.04). Josiebond won with a bit up her sleeve at Thirsk last time and should also go well.
