'Worth the wait!' - first foal for Enable is a strikingly-marked Kingman colt
The 11-time Group/Grade 1 winner is due to visit Dubawi this term
The maxim that all good things come to those who wait was never more apt than when the brilliant Enable gave birth to a colt foal by Kingman on Friday afternoon.
An 11-time Group/Grade 1 winner for owner-breeder Juddmonte, the daughter of Nathaniel had gone past her due date but the late Prince Khalid Abdullah's operation announced that all had gone smoothly with mare and foal.
A statement revealed: "Juddmonte are delighted to announce that Enable has given birth to a strikingly-marked colt-foal by Kingman at 3.54pm on Friday, the day before her own birthday. Enable has taken to her maternal duties extremely well. Special moments are worth the wait!"
Dubbed the queen of racing during her career for John Gosden, in which her top-flight triumphs included a record-equalling two Prix de l'Arc de Triomphes, a record-breaking three King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, a Breeders' Cup Turf and the English and Irish Oaks, Enable bowed out after attempting a third Arc win when finishing behind Sottsass in 2020.
She won 15 of her 19 starts and more than £10.7 million in prize-money.
She was mated with Banstead Manor Stud supersire Kingman last year on Valentine's Day and, fittingly, produced her first foal on not just the day before her own birthday but on the actual birthday of another Juddmonte giant in Frankel.
Enable, who is out of the stakes-winning and Group 3-placed Sadler's Wells mare Concentric, will visit Darley giant Dubawi this coming breeding season.
The eight-year-old is a half-sister to three black-type performers in Derab, Contribution and Entitle, while her dam is a sister to Dance Routine, the dam of multiple top-flight winner Flintshire, among other high-class performers such as Light Ballet, Space Quest and half-sibling Apsis.
Enable is one of five top-level winners for Newsells Park Stud resident Nathaniel, while her three-year-old brother is named Lenient.
