Watch: Copper Knight is the focus of From Premier Yearling to York video series
Second part of series sees Goffs UK and GBRI pay a visit to Tim Easterby's yard

Next up in the three-part From Premier Yearling to York video series, the team from GBRI and Goffs UK has crossed over to the other side of Malton to pay a visit to Copper Knight and trainer Tim Easterby, who is a long-time supporter of the British yearling season’s opening auction in Doncaster, having first visited the sale when fresh out of school.
A durable sort with 57 runs to his name, including eight this season at the age of seven, Copper Knight’s finest hour to date came on the Knavesmire when he won the Listed City Walls Stakes in July 2019. A further four wins at York mean that over half of his nine career successes have come there.
Copper Knight was purchased at the Doncaster yearling sale by Amanda Skiffington’s Anglia Bloodstock on behalf of Hugo Palmer for £30,000.
As a juvenile he showed early potential, with a win in the Lily Agnes earning him his place in the Listed National Stakes at Sandown. But a disappointing show for the remainder of his two-year-old season prompted connections to offer him as a horse-in-training later in the year.
He transferred to North Yorkshire, having sold to William Easterby, and has since flourished at Habton Grange. Like Safe Voyage, Copper Knight is a strong example of the longevity that can be found at the Premier Yearling Sale.
Copper Knight will return to the Knavesmire on Wednesday for the opening race of the 2021 Ebor meeting, having on Monday morning been declared to run in the Sky Bet and Symphony Group Handicap.
Join us again on Tuesday for the final part of this video series, when Goffs UK and GBRI take us to see last year’s Premier Yearling Stakes winner, Happy Romance, and trainer Richard Hannon, for whom the Doncaster sale has been a particularly happy hunting ground over the years.
