Tattersalls unveil Guineas Breeze-Up and HIT Sale catalogue
206 breeze-up two-year-olds and 120 horses in training will be offered
The catalogue for the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up and Horses in Training Sale is now out, with 206 breeze-up two-year-olds and 120 horses in training set to be offered over three days next month.
Taking place from April 26-28, the horses being offered at the sale will bid to follow in the footsteps of recent star graduates such as champion stayer Trueshan and Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes scorer Shantisara, purchased for just 31,000gns and 10,000gns respectively in recent years.
Classic or Group/Grade 1-winning sires with two-year-olds catalogued include Australia, Invincible Spirit, Kodiac, Mehmas, No Nay Never, Sea The Moon and Wootton Bassett, while leading second-season sires include Ardad, Caravaggio, Churchill, Cotai Glory, Galileo Gold, Time Test and Zarak.
First-season stallions represented include Cracksman, Expert Eye, Harry Angel, Havana Grey, Lightning Spear, Saxon Warrior, U S Navy Flag and Sioux Nation.
In addition, 18 fillies are registered for the Great British Bonus, while 14 two-year-olds are qualified for French Owners’ Premiums. Three juveniles are entered in the Swedish Derby and Oaks Series, with three in the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes, and an additional lot in the £100,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes.
The horses in training section includes lots consigned by George Boughey - who offers the progressive three-year-old Belardo colt My Little Tip (lot 96) - Juddmonte - whose draft includes unraced full-and half-brothers to Weekender (84) and Winsili (85) - William Haggas' Somerville Lodge, Roger Varian and the Crisfords.
Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said of the catalogue: "The Guineas Breeze-Up enjoyed yet another outstanding year on the racecourse led by the champion stayer Trueshan and American Grade 1 winner Shantisara, both of whom illustrate the quality, diversity and value for money that buyers have come to expect from the sale.
"This year’s Guineas Breeze-Up has been very well-supported by consignors and we are confident the selection of two-year-olds will appeal to domestic and international buyers in all sectors of the market, alongside the second largest horses in training section in the sale’s history."
Catalogues will be available from Tattersalls and representatives from Monday, April 11. The breeze will take place at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse on Tuesday, April 26 from 9am and will be streamed on the Tattersalls website and Facebook page.
