Stallion prospect Mac Swiney bought back at €480,000
Mac Swiney, the winner of the Irish 2,000 Guineas and Vertem Futurity Trophy, ended up being bought back by Jim Bolger for €480,000 having been offered for sale online through Goffs on Friday.
The trainer had decided to offer the homebred son of New Approach as a stallion prospect, who had also won the Futurity Stakes as a juvenile and appeared three times for him last season.
There was interest in the chestnut through the lunchtime auction but he currently remains the property of Bolger, who also has stood his own stallions such as Dawn Approach and Vocalised at his Redmondstown Stud.
The bidding function remained open on the Goffs platform on Friday evening.
