The European yearling sale circuit makes its annual stop-off at La Teste-de-Buch in south-west France for two days of action beginning on Monday.

A total of 179 lots were initially catalogued to the Osarus Yearling Sale, with more than 70 sires represented, including Cloth Of Stars, Earthlight, Harry Angel, Muhaarar, Sea The Moon and Tasleet.

The sale begins at 1pm (12pm BST) on Monday and resumes at 12 noon local time on Tuesday.

Once again, the 2023 La Teste yearling sale produced the winner of the first race for two-year-olds in Europe when Cylenechope won the Prix du Premier Pas at Lyon on March 17.

The sale also provided Van Beethoven and Hey Gaman – both represented again this year – with their first winners in March, with Sweet Chop winning at La Teste and Eagle Gate scoring at Marseille.

Graduates of the sale include three-time Group 1 winner Trueshan, a great find at €8,000 in 2017, fellow top-level winner Sands Of Mali, bought 12 months earlier for €20,000 and who has made a good start with his two-year-olds this year, and Chic Colombine, a €10,000 Osarus yearling and winner of the Listed Prix la Camargo at Saint-Cloud in March.

Haras des Faunes will be among the busiest consignors this week with 22 lots, of which eight are fillies and colts by Muhaarar, including a half-sister to Group 3 Prix du Bois winner Cosachope (lot 68), a half-brother to the Listed-placed Yayajonh (60), a half-sister to the Listed-placed Princesschope (100), and a colt out of Listed winner Gooseley Lane, a half-brother to seven winners including Gooseley Chope, dam of Goken (75).

Haras de la Haie Neuve will offer 12 yearlings, including lot 58, a half-brother to Group 3 Prix la Force winner Mister Saint Paul.

Haras de Saint Vincent have eight remaining lots in their draft, including a Galiway colt (61) and a Sea The Moon filly closely related to Nathaniel (29).

The powerful Haras de Montaigu operation has eight left to consign, including a filly by Kendargent out of a full-sister to Address Unknown (136).

Sarah and Simon Urizzi are also set to offer eight youngsters under the Haras de la Commanderie banner, notably lot 45, a Goken filly closely related to Group 1 winner Harlem.

Nine lots will be consigned by Haras de la Côte Fleurie, notably two fillies by Galiway (65 and 77), a colt by Kodi Bear out of a half-sister of Listed Prix des Reves d’Or winner Diablotine (70), and a filly by Iffraaj out of a half-sister to Group 3 Prix du Petit Couvert winner Dibajj (72).

The Channel Consignment will present five yearlings, including lot 14, a filly by Cloth Of Stars out of Group 3 Prix Chloe winner Wilside.

Also of note at an auction that adds variety and flavour to the circuit, and provides a useful showcase for more commercial sires, are the Toronado half-brother to Listed winner Intellect (39), the Expert Eye half-brother to Grade 2 winner Cape Gentleman (82) and the colt by Earnshaw who is half-brother to Listed Grand Steeple Chase de Craon winner Autorisation (95).

Additionally on the filly front, there is a half-sister to the Listed-placed Tregua by First Eleven (131), and a daughter of Ribchester who is a half-sister to Group 3-placed Theobald (156).
