Tattersalls is a company steeped in tradition. The world’s oldest bloodstock auction house was established by Richard Tattersall at Hyde Park Corner in 1766 and has been a major presence in Newmarket for the last 138 years. It is, quite simply, a bloodstock institution.
Many of the firm’s biggest events feel like timeless affairs. Arriving on the opening day of Book 1 or the December Mares Sale and hearing the bell ring out to signal the start of selling with a familiar ding, ding, ding-ding-ding can feel like stepping back into a bygone era.
