Murphy and Doyle can rule the roost again at Cheltenham Sale
Both have entered a strong draft of winning pointers
A repeat of last year's Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham May Sale - in which the top five lots came from either Denis Murphy's Ballyboy Stables or Donnchadh Doyle's Monbeg Stables, including the latter's sale-topping Redhotfillypeppers - is not hard to envisage, as both have entered a fresh batch of winning pointers again this year.
Murphy has four lots catalogued to go under the hammer including three by Westerner. They are Gowiththeflow, winner of a four-year-old geldings' maiden at Rathcannon a fortnight ago, from the family of dual Charlie Hall Chase winner and prolific Listed hurdle scorer Celtic Shot.
Bold Bandit, second to Doyle's Coastal Path gelding Aione in a hotly contested four-year-old gelding's maiden at Dromahane on Sunday; the filly Ifyoucatchmenow, who won a four-year-old mares' maiden at Bartlemy over a week ago, and Moonshine Bay, a Milan gelding that was successful in a Loughrea four-year-old maiden in April.
Doyle has a seven-strong entry, consisting of September Storm gelding Storm Control, an impressive 20-length winner on his first start in a Lisronagh four-year-old maiden in April, and the already mentioned Aione.
He also offers Kings Monarch, a Schiaparelli gelding who scored by three lengths at Taylorstown earlier this month; Tillythetank, a Stowaway filly who was second by two lengths to Ifyoucatchmenow, and Rio Quinto, a Loup Breton gelding who was a close second at Dromahane on Sunday. His final lot is Darlac, a Lucarno gelding who was second to Gowiththeflow.
The sale, for which 54 lots are catalogued, will take place at the Tattersalls Ireland sales complex at Cheltenham racecourse on June 1.
