A Milan foal with unusual markings captured the hearts and imaginations of vendors and buyers alike at the Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale this week.
Bred by Ann Cotter and consigned by Eudora O'Connor's Lough Na Sollis Stud, the colt is out of Britway Lady and seems to have inherited his markings from his distaff side.
Britway Lady is a half-sister to Thyne Again, a flashy chestnut with distinctive white socks as well as a top-class chaser. His finest hour came when winning the Grade 1 Arkle Novice Chase at Leopardstown in 2008 for trainer Liam Burke and the Cotter family.
Former jockey-turned-agent Matt O'Connor was impressed by the colt's page and physical, landing a winning bid of €16,500.
"He was a lovely model and I thought he looked an athlete with a good, happening page. I think he was value," said O'Connor.
Lough Na Sollis enjoyed further success on Monday when selling a Presenting three-parts brother to the three-time Grade 1 winner First Lieutenant for €52,000.
