Fruitful times for owner-breeder Robert Moss with Book 1 purchase on opening day
Owner with Simon Dow successfully targets Kodiac colt consigned by Tally-Ho
It is often said that horses are a way of life and Robert Moss, who struck gold on the opening day of Tattersalls Book 1 Sale, is testament to that.
The enthusiastic owner-breeder, who has enjoyed success with the likes of seven-time winner Chica De La Noche and Mr Scaramanga, added to his 14-strong team when picking up Lot 38, a Kodiac colt, for 100,000gns on Tuesday.
Last year's October Yearling Sales selection, Hector Loza, has proven a fruitful purchase, with two successes to date and a decent run in fourth in the Solario, and it appears the proverbial bug has bitten Moss.
He explained: "I bought a Kodiac last year [Hector Loza] and he won the £25,000 bonus payment this year.
"I usually buy one horse at Book 1 and I really went for him and only him. It was a surprise as I waited until the last bid, 95,000gns, and I went to the 100,000 mark and nobody bid back!"
Moss, who has a number of horses in training with Epsom-based Simon Dow, plans on adding to his burgeoning bloodstock band at Woodcote Stud.
He added: "It's like falling in love, I love having horses around me and I love seeing them run. I'd love to win everything we can but I'm also very interested in the breeding side. I'm planning to breed from Chica De La Noche next year."
