Five striking lots on final day of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1
Trade continues to go from strength to strength at Tattersalls this week and the quality of yearlings on offer does not wane. We pick out five lots to watch out for on the third and final day of Book 1.
Lot 370
B c Kingman - Kazeem (Darshaan)
Consigned by Oakgrove Stud
This colt is just the second lot to be offered on the final day of Book 1 and looks likely to command a significant price.
His sophomore sire needs little introduction, having enjoyed a sensational year with French 2,000 Guineas scorer Persian King and Group winners such as Sangarius, Headman and Calyx.
A half-brother to Coral-Eclipse and Prince of Wales's Stakes winner Al Kazeem, who sired his first top-level winner when Aspetar struck in the Preis von Europa last month, this colt has all the credentials to attract plenty of attention.
Lot 377
C f Galileo - Kheleyf's Silver (Kheleyf)
WH Bloodstock
This chestnut filly is a half-sister to none other than the precocious Tiggy Wiggy, 2014 champion juvenile filly in Britain and whose finest hour came when running out a cosy winner of the Cheveley Park Stakes.
Kheleyf's Silver is a renowned source of winners, having produced four from as many runners, and her latest offspring, who is related to Norfolk Stakes scorer Masta Plasta, could provide connections with plenty of reasons to celebrate.
Lot 422
B c Invincible Spirit - Magic Mission (Machiavellian)
The Castlebridge Consignment
Castlebridge Consignment's colt boasts a fine pedigree as he's a half-brother to Breeders' Cup Turf victor Talismanic, who also finished second to the globe-trotting Highland Reel in the 2017 Hong Kong Vase.
Magic Mission, whose daughter Witnessed produced the Group 3-winning Stage Magic, has herself thrown six winners from as many runners and this son of Invincible Spirit looks another likely type for the ring.
Lot 507
C c Frankel - Posset (Oasis Dream)
Newsells Park Stud
This lot's dam is a full-sister to the six-time Group 1 winner Midday, who has produced Group-class performers in the shape of Classic Trial scorer Midterm and Ribblesdale runner-up Mori.
Make My Day, a half-brother to this colt and in training with John Gosden, was knocked down for 250,000gns at Book 1 in 2017.
This son of Frankel holds a classic Juddmonte pedigree, being closely related to Nell Gwyn Stakes heroine Hot Snap and Sun Maiden, a Group 3 winner for Sir Michael Stoute, and there should be plenty of interest for this flashy chestnut.
Lot 527
B c Zoffany - Rain Flower (Indian Ridge)
The Castlebridge Consignment
Zoffany enjoyed an excellent weekend when Albigna struck in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp on Sunday and this colt looks a stand-out for his sire at Tattersalls on Thursday.
Rain Flower has proven to be an outstanding dam, producing 2011 Oaks heroine Dancing Rain, who also struck in the Preis der Diana and Fillies' and Mares' Stakes at Ascot, and Listed scorer Sumora.
Those two fillies have gone on to be top-class producers themselves, with Sumora dam of Maybe (who in turn is dam of Saxon Warrior), and Dancing Rain's son Jalmoud a Listed winner at Longchamp this year and close third at the same track in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris.
