Entries now open for the first Goresbridge sale of 2025

Goresbridge Sales has confirmed the date for the first of three point-to-point and horses-in-training sales scheduled to be held at the County Kilkenny venue this year.
The thoroughbred sales year at the Donohoe family's complex gets under way on Wednesday, April 23 which will be just over a year since thoroughbred auctions returned to the ring at Goresbridge after a hiatus of four years.
Building on the success of that initial auction, two further sales were held at Goresbridge during 2024 with vendors delighted by the opportunity to sell on home soil and reap the rewards of cost reduction.
"The need for a reliable platform for many breeders and producers is evident as many have previously been forced to travel to the UK resulting in significant costs. Therefore, Goresbridge is committed to providing an effective alternative venue for selling and purchasing quality horses," said Ed Donohoe in a statement.
Each of the three sales last year saw significant activity by British trainers and agents, with Irish Thoroughbred Marketing (ITM) lending its support through its Inward Buyer Programme which remains in place for the 2025 season at Goresbridge.
Donohoe added: “The response to our sales already confirms there is a demand for such a marketplace."
He and his team at Goresbridge are committed to developing the market even further and to attract new buyers and consignors to the auctions.
Entries are open for both point-to-pointers and horses-in-training for next month's sale and can be made at www.goresbridge.com.
