At the Cheltenham November Sale, my 59th day at the sales this year, a prominent bloodstock agent referred to me as a “part-timer”. Now, there are lots of things you could call me that I’d be prepared to accept. Most are uncomplimentary but probably true. But I’d like to think a part-time sales correspondent isn’t one of them.
However, my Cheltenham critic will no doubt feel his comments were justified when he learns that my 60th sales shift of the year came on day two of the Goffs November Foal Sale, rather than day one.
