Ten lots to keep an eye on at the Tattersalls Cheltenham November Sale on Friday

Lot 9 Captain Broomfield
Riverside Stables

A winner of his second point start at Dromahane on Sunday, the son of Arakan received a timely update as his full-brother, Captain Guinness, ran out an easy winner of the Grade 3 Poplar Square Chase at Naas on Saturday.

Captain Guinness, who was also third to Shishkin in last season’s Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival, was also a winning hurdler and came within a length of the talented Andy Dufresne in the Grade 2 Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle in January 2020.

The duo are out of the unraced Presenting mare Presenting D’Azy, a half-sister to the useful Grade 2-placed chaser Jerrysback.

Lot 10 Ballyglass
Skehanagh Stables

Sam Curling’s promising Montmartre gelding Ballyglass has been placed in all three of his bumper starts to date, including when second to the well-regarded The Big Doyen at Roscommon in September.

The four-year-old is out of Wite Lioness, an unraced Tobougg half-sister to the popular Becher Chase and RSA Chase scorer Blaklion plus the Listed-placed hurdler Francesa.

Lot 11 Forpaddytheplumber
Cobajay Stables

The son of Ask was third on his debut in a decent Moig South four-year-old geldings’ maiden last December, behind a subsequent bumper winner and point winner, and improved on that effort when losing out narrowly at Dromahane last weekend.

Offered by Cobajay Stables, Forpaddytheplumber is out of the winning pointer Doneraile Parke, already the dam of a winner and a full-sister to Forpadydeplasterer, winner of the 2009 Arkle and multiply placed at the highest level including when second in the following season’s Champion Chase to Big Zeb and Albertas Run in the Melling Chase at Aintree.

Lot 17 Chasing Fire
Ballyboy Stables

The Ballyboy Stables-consigned son of Maxios struck on debut in the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Tattersalls last month, and should prove popular in the ring at Cheltenham too given his pedigree.

Chasing Fire is out of the stakes-placed Sadler’s Wells mare Kahara, a winning full-sister to champion stayer and National Hunt sire Milan and already the dam of a black-type winner in German 2,000 Guineas scorer Karpino.

It is a page that has seen plenty of recent updates, and Kahara’s half-sister, the Group 3-winning Pivotal mare Koora, has produced this season’s Queen’s Vase scorer Kemari.

Lot 21 Queen’s Rock
Cobajay Stables

A daughter of the high-flying Shirocco who was a promising second on her sole start in a four-year-old mares’ maiden at Tattersalls, Cobajay Stables’ lot looks a lovely prospect both for the track and eventually as a broodmare.

She is out of Lohort Castle, a daughter of Presenting who struck in a bumper, and is therefore a half-sister to Grade 3 winner and Grade 1 Bowl Chase runner-up Clondaw Castle among four winners.

Monbeg Stables

By the great Walk In The Park, the sire of National Hunt celebrities such as Douvan and Min from his first few small crops when standing in France, the Tattersalls-winning pointer hails from the powerful yard of Donnchadh Doyle.

The four-year-old is out of Cyclone’s Sister, an unraced full-sister to Grade 2 Tied Cottage and Fortria Chase winner Hidden Cyclone, a high-class performer for Shark Hanlon who was also placed in Grade 1 contests such as the Clarence House Chase, Fighting Fifth Hurdle and Future Champions Novice Hurdle.

Lot 49 Monbeg Lane
Monbeg Stables

The five-year-old son of Milan caught the eye when coming out on top in an 18-runner geldings’ maiden at Tattersalls this month and, given he comes from a family full of black-type runners, should prove a popular choice when he heads under the hammer.

Consigned by Monbeg Stables, Monbeg Lane is out of Lakil Princess, a Grade 2-placed chaser and already the dam of two black-type winners, including Grade 2 John Francome Novices' Chase scorer Danny Whizzbang, a Getaway gelding who was also third in the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices' Chase for Paul Nicholls, and Listed-winning Flemensfirth mare Lastbutnotleast.

Under the second dam is triple Grade 3-winning chaser Moskova, the dam of Grade 2 scorer Moyhenna and the Graded-placed Moskovite.

Lot 56 Queens Vic
Cobajay Stables

Queens Vic won the same four-year-old mares’ maiden that the subsequent Champion Bumper third Queens Brook won in imperious fashion, winning as she pleased by a wide margin.

The Shirocco four-year-old is out of the winning hurdler Petrovic, an Old Vic half-sister to National Hunt Chase winner and Gold Cup runner-up Minella Rocco, as well as Challow Hurdle second and Listed Flat scorer Big Moment and Listed Punchestown hurdle winner Sinoria.

Lot 57 Not Long Left
Monbeg Stables

Not Long Left is another from the renowned Donnchadh Doyle yard and caught the eye when staying on to finish eight lengths clear of the third-placed horse on his sole point start at Dromahane on Sunday.

The four-year-old son of Presenting has plenty to recommend him on his page too, being out of an unraced full-sister to the late and prolific dual Grade 1 Aintree Hurdle winner and Grade 1 Scilly Isles Novices' Chase scorer Oscar Whisky.

Lot 62 Kilfilum Woods
Coogane Stables

A rallying third after an awkward jump at the third-last fence at Dromahane on his first start, this son of Beat Hollow will be offered as the final lot of the sale by Coogane Stables.

The five-year-old gelding is out of the unraced Trans Island mare Cheryls Island, a half-sister to Grade 2 Aon Chase scorer and Scilly Isles Novices' Chase runner-up Farmer Jack among three individual winners, as well as Chloes Choice, the dam of Fairyhouse Grade 3 chase winner Agusta Gold.
