Giant impact of blue hen extended by Happily and Decorated Knight
Many of the defining moments of the 2000 season belonged to one horse and his famous fighting spirit. Giant's Causeway fell victim to the brilliance of King's Best in the 2,000 Guineas – but whereas that proved to be the winner's day in the sun, the "Iron Horse" went on to rack up wins in the St. James's Palace Stakes, Eclipse Stakes, Sussex Stakes, Juddmonte International and Irish Champions Stakes. Only the wide late run of Observatory denied him the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, before he bowed out with that memorable narrow second to Tiznow, on his first try on dirt in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
Battle
Giant's Causeway was never flashy, but his relish for the battle won him a legion of fans. And the son of Storm Cat has since gone on to carve out an elite career at stud for Coolmore, as one of those rare sires who work on both sides of the Atlantic – including as a sire of sires and broodmare sire.
