Classic clues abounded during the past weekend as various meetings across Britain and Ireland played host to a series of Group races and informative maidens.

By the close of play on Sunday, both superpowers - Coolmore and Godolphin - had served further notice of the strength of their Classic hand for next year, with Sunday's Beresford Stakes falling to the Ballydoyle juvenile Saxon Warrior and Godolphin unleashing an impressive debutant on Saturday's Newmarket card in Magic Lily.

The pair may race as homebreds for their respective connections but they also share common territory as descendants of the Indian Ridge mare Rain Flower, a three-parts sister to 1992 Derby hero Dr Devious bred by the Sangster family's Swettenham Stud in partnership with Orpendale.
