Yorton P2P Sale set to go ahead as planned on November 12
Event originally moved from Doncaster this Friday
Goffs UK is planning for the point-to-point sale at Yorton Farm Stud on November 12 to go ahead as anticipated following announcements by Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford about restrictions.
The 17-day Welsh 'fire-break' lockdown is to end on November 9. Organisers expect that vendors will be able to arrive at Yorton, which is near Welshpool in Powys, and that there will be time for horses to be vetted. In an ever-developing situation, England will enter a new month-long lockdown on Thursday.
A press release from Goffs UK said: "The new English restrictions do not apply to Wales and differ from those experienced earlier this year.
"They allow people to leave home for specific reasons including work which cannot be done from home. On that basis, there will be no barrier to buyers attending the Yorton Farm Sale on November 12."
The company said that it had already reserved a number of local hotel rooms and confirmed that they will remain open during this period.
Goffs UK has a strong relationship with Yorton and moved the November P2P Sale from an earlier slot at Doncaster this Friday. Around 50 horses are currently catalogued including several rather appropriately named individuals.
Lock Down Luke won a Perth bumper for Jackie Stephen while Mark Scallan's Obey The Rules was placed in an Irish point.
