Yearlings by first-crop sires to keep an eye on at Tattersalls on Wednesday
Advertise, Blue Point, Inns Of Court, Masar and Magna Grecia all feature
The second day of Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale continues on Wednesday and plenty of eyes will be on the lots by first-crop yearling sires. Here we pick out a handful of youngsters that are among those who catch the eye at Park Paddocks.
Lot 200
B c Magna Grecia - Shaloushka (Dalakhani)
Hazelwood Bloodstock
Adrian and Philippa O'Brien's Hazelwood Bloodstock will be hoping their good fortune at Book 1 continues after this season's Grade 1 exploits of McKulick and In Italian, the winners of the Belmont Oaks and Diana Stakes respectively.
This February-born son of Coolmore's 2,000 Guineas and Vertem Futurity Stakes winner Magna Grecia has an attractive pedigree as a half-brother to Royal Lodge and Acomb Stakes winner Royal Patronage, second in this season's Dante Stakes to Desert Crown and now plying his trade over the Atlantic too, in his case for Graham Motion.
The pair are out of the winning Dalakhani mare Shaloushka, an Aga Khan-bred and raced half-sister to Irish Derby third Shalapour and to the dam of New Zealand Group winner Glorious Army. Shaloushka is out of Shalama, a close relation to dual Derby hero Shahrastani.

B c Invincible Army - Silk Bow (Elusive City)
Yeomanstown Stud
A colt by Invincible Spirit's multiple Group-winning sprinter Invincible Army and out of the Marygate Stakes-placed Elusive City mare Silk Bow, this is a colt with a pacey pedigree.
The nine-year-old Silk Bow has already produced a winner in Sandown National Stakes second Wings Of A Dove, a dual scoring son of Dark Angel, while she is a granddaughter of Prestige Stakes third Elshamms, the dam of two Listed winners and granddam of Valiant Stakes winner Duneflower.
Sweet Solera Stakes winner and French Classic-placed Gharam features as the next dam, while other high-class performers who can be found on the page are Group 3 winner and Cheveley Park Stakes second Flotus and Rose Bowl winner and Richmond Stakes second Master Of War.
222
B f Inns Of Court - Soft Power (Balmont)
Tally-Ho Stud
Tally-Ho Stud's record at launching new sires is impeccable and their Group 2-winning sprinter Inns Of Court has two lots to represent him on the second day at Park Paddocks, including this half-sister to Phoenix Stakes winner Ebro River.
As well as being a half-sister to Al Shaqab Racing's Group 1-winning juvenile, she is also related to the stakes-placed Strong Power, with the trio being out of the winning Balmont mare Soft Power. She is a half-sister to Girl Power, the dam of the prolific and hugely talented sprinter Slade Power.
Her two-year-old Mehmas half-sister has showed promise in three starts for Richard Hannon and sold to Peter and Ross Doyle for 300,000gns at the Craven Breeze-Up Sale in April. Further updates look likely for her year-younger half-sibling.
239
Ch c Masar - Sweet Selection (Stimulation)
Llety Farms
As a Group-winning two-year-old and Derby winner from the phenomenal family of Urban Sea, Darley's Masar has piqued the interest of many with his first crop going under the hammer as yearlings this term.
Llety Farm offers a colt who has appeared to have inherited many of his sire's physical features, while he also has an appealing pedigree being out of Sagaro Stakes winner Sweet Selection, a Stimulation half-sister to dual 1,000 Guineas second Lightning Thunder.
There is an international aspect to this March-born colt's pedigree as it also features the likes of multiple American Grade 1 winner Tinners Way, French stakes winner Devon Heights and smart South African performer Polzeath.
279
B f Blue Point - Via Lattea (Teofilo)
Barton Stud
Barton Stud's filly by Kildangan Stud's record-breaking sprinter Blue Point has plenty of appeal as a half-sister to Prix Sigy winner Miramar and the Listed-placed The Rosstafarian, while her damsire has in turn been responsible for two Classic winners among several top-flight scorers this term, including Newmarket heroes Cachet and the ill-fated Coroebus.
Her half-sister sold for €82,000 to the Lerners from Arqana in 2020, while there is plenty of back class to the pedigree, with stakes scorer and producer Dolydille featuring as the third dam.
The May born filly's sire has seen his first crop of yearlings sell for up to €420,000 and further strong representation at Newmarket seems likely for the brilliant son of the much-missed Shamardal.
295
B c Ten Sovereigns - Western Sky (Barathea)
Mountain View Stud
This colt consigned by Mountain View Stud is out of an own sister to Greenham Stakes victor and 2,000 Guineas third Barathea Guest, but also has well-related siblings of his own.
The son of Coolmore's July Cup and Middle Park Stakes winner Ten Sovereigns is a half-sibling to multiple German Group winner and German Oaks second Djumama, the champion two-year-old filly in her native country who has produced four black-type performers including stakes winner and Group 3-placed Samahram (by Sea The Moon) and German St Leger third Djukon (Jukebox Jury).
Western Sky is out of the unraced Shirley Heights mare Western Heights, a daughter of Nassau Stakes second Western Star and a half-sister to Galtres Stakes scorer and Park Hill Stakes second Star Vega.
316
B f Too Darn Hot - Zurigha (Cape Cross)
Barton Stud
Another offered by Barton Stud, this filly is by Dubawi's champion two-year-old and Sussex Stakes winner Too Darn Hot, a young sire whose first strong book saw him have a six-figure yearling at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale.
This filly has a wonderful page - and therefore holds plenty of residual value - as she is out of a Bernardini half-sister to American Graded winners Discreet Dancer, Travelin Man and Sweet N Discreet, the last-named also the dam of Grade 2 scorer Sweet Melania.
Further down is the influential producer Love Me True, the dam of champion older performer and top level-winning sire Duke Of Marmalade, 2013 Derby hero Ruler Of The World plus Zetland Stakes winner and Irish Derby third Norway.
352
B f Advertise - Aris (Danroad)
West Park Stud
Last, but by no means least, there is also West Park Stud's Advertise half-sister to Prix de la Foret winner and Classic-winning sire Aclaim. As well as her famed half-siblings' exploits, the family has more winning updates courtesy of Aimeric, who has looked a progressive stayer for Roger Varian and Sheikh Mohammed Obaid this term.
Aris, the dam of five winners from seven foals of racing age, is a half-sister to Irish 1,000 Guineas and Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Again, the dam of stakes winners Delphinia and Indian Maharaja, and Beresford Stakes second Delano Roosevelt.
It is a family packed with some rather familiar names as under the third dam Floripedes is the great Montjeu, while King's Stand Stakes winner and 2,000 Guineas hero Galileo Gold also features under Clizia.
